New Haven Police Release 2016 Crime Stats
Some crimes saw double-digit percentage drops while others were slightly on the rise.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Non-fatal shootings and homicides in 2016 stayed at relatively the same levels as the past couple previous years.
2016 saw 13 homicides and 67 non-fatal shooting victims, according to data released by the New Haven Police Department.

- 2015: 15 homicides, 63 non-fatal shooting victims
- 2014: 13 homicides, 60 non-fatal shooting victims
- 2013: 20 homicides, 66 non-fatal shooting victims
Meanwhile the city saw a surge of shots fired reports in 2016 compared to 2015. There were 160 reports in 2016 compared to 105 in 2015. There were 191 shots fired reports in 2014, 229 in 2013, 275 in 2012 and 426 in 2011.
New Haven saw double-digit percentage drops in reported rapes and robberies in 2016 compared to 2015 while larcenies were up 9.7 percent and motor vehicle thefts up 5.6 percent for the same time period.

The city saw a surge of violence in 2011 with 34 homicides and 133 non-fatal shootings.
