New Haven Police Search For Arson Suspects, Offer Reward
New Haven Police are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of suspects involved in two arson incidents.
NEW HAVEN, CT – New Haven Police are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of suspects involved in two arson incidents in which Molotov cocktails that were thrown at NHPD substations.
Just after 2 a.m. Monday, officers responded to Winchester Avenue and Hazel Street in the Newhallville neighborhood after a ShotSpotter activation in the area. Officers located what appeared to be an attempted arson fire outside the police substation at 596 Winchester Ave.
According to police, a Molotov cocktail had been thrown at the building and the following explosion activated the ShotSpotter monitors.

Later Monday morning, officers found a similar scene at the police substation at 410 Howard Avenue in the Hill neighborhood. An NHPD arson detective determined the fire occurred around 1 a.m., when an incendiary device was thrown at a wall.
Investigators said the damage to the wall at 410 Howard Ave. is similar to the damage at 596 Winchester Ave.

Substations are typically self-standing buildings with a community meeting room and an office area for police personnel and their NHPD district manager.
