NEW HAVEN, CT — Police charged Rabbi Daniel Greer, 77, with raping a student in the middle 2000's.

Greer was charged with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor after he turned himself in Wednesday morning, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman.

Police were contacted in August 2016 by the victim through his attorney. Greer was the dean of Yeshiva of New Haven/The Gan School where the victim was a student, Hartman said.

Greer denied having sex with the victim on a parcel of land in Hamden, the only time during testimony he flat out denied a sex abuse allegation, according to the New Haven Independent. Outside of that he invoked his Fifth Amendment privileges several times during the trial.
