New Haven School Superintendent Resigns
The Board of Education and Superintendent Garth Harries mutually agreed on the decision.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Superintendent Garth Harries will resign effective around Nov. 1.
"Mr. Harries and the Board of Education are committed to assuring a smooth transition of leadership to assure that the outstanding work of the staff and students of the New Haven Public Schools will continue," the Board of Education said in a statement.
A new interim superintendent will be announced as soon as possible and a committee will be appointed to search for a new superintendent.

The contents of Harries' severance agreement weren't revealed at the Board of Education meeting, but the New Haven Independent reports that he will paid his full salary and benefitsthrough June 30, 2017 and health benefits through June 30, 2018 unless he finds health employment elsewhere.
His contract runs through June 30, 2018.
