2 New Haven Shootings Investigated

Police don't believe the shootings are related.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating two shootings that appear to be unrelated Wednesday.

The first happened on Bassett Street early Wednesday.

The shooting occurred around 1:40 a.m. and the victim sustained non-life threatening injuries, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman.

Police were alerted to a second shooting around 7:30 a.m. after getting a report about gunfire in the Cedarhill and Fair Haven neighborhoods. Police met with the victim at the Fair Haven police substation. He was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Several area schools went into lockdown and some bus routes were diverted during the incident, Hartman said. Normal operations resumed quickly.

Both shootings are actively being investigated. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 203-946-6304.
