New Haven Soup Kitchen Gets Large Donation From Shelton Farm
A farm donated about 500 pounds of squash to a New Haven soup kitchen.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Laurel Glen Farm in Shelton donated 500 pounds of butternut squash to the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen on Temple Street.
Some of the squash are very large, weighing in at 15 pounds or more, according to the New Haven Register. The farm decided to donate the squash instead of composting it at the end of the year.
The farm donated about 3,000 pounds, which Connecticut Food Bank is helping to distribute.
