New Haven Spent Nearly $4k on Receptionist Uniforms

Some alders were upset about the expenditure as the city faces a large budget deficit.

NEW HAVEN, CT – New Haven officials have spent nearly $4,000 on uniforms for the receptionists in the mayor's office at a time when the city is facing multi-million dollar budget deficits.

Funds were used from the Fire Department in order to secure a better price with a vendor, the mayor's office told the New Haven Register. Funds from the mayor's office would be moved back into the fire department budget.

The Register found that some of the same uniform items sold online were for less than what the city paid the vendor. To sign up for New Haven breaking news alerts and more, click here.
