Zach, a 2nd grade student at Foote School, received 2nd place for his energy-saving poster entitled “Power Your House with Brain Power.” For his illustration, he uses the brain and its lobes to showcase various ways people can be more energy efficient. An example is the Parietal Lobe. Zach recommends doing math in your head instead of using electronics since that part of the brain is used for calculation.

Students from 18 schools in 15 Connecticut communities submitted their work for consideration. Twenty-six entries were selected as this year’s winners and each finalist received a prize box with a gift card and certificate.
