Her teenage daughter joined a chorus of Connecticut protesters who demonstrated against recent waves of arrests and deportations.

Wednesday, people at the rally, which was staged by advocates in downtown New Haven, demanded that ICE agents leave Connecticut and stop deporting undocumented immigrants.

The demonstrators called the recent arrests unjust and illegal; however, the Trump administration strongly pushed back on that claim.

The teenage daughter of the mother told the crowd on Wednesday that ICE agents swooped in and arrested her mom as she was dropping her kids off at school.

New Haven police chief Karl Jacobson said the woman was boxed in by agents and arrested in front of her 8- and 13-year-old children. She had an upcoming court date for two misdemeanor charges following a conflict with another woman.

Her daughter called the current immigration policies inhumane.

“You’re not just doing this to my family, you’re also hurting immigrant families who need their parents back home,” she said in front of the crowd. “You’re causing a lot of pain to these families, taking them away.”

Another big anti-Trump and anti-ICE rally has been planned in New Haven on Saturday at 1 p-m.

That event was said to be part of a nationwide network of events known as the “No Kings Rally.”
