New Haven Woman, 27, Victim In Fatal Pedestrian Whalley Ave. Crash: PD

At 6 p.m., Friday, Shanice Reyes was found laying in the road between Dayton & Emerson streets; the driver stayed at the scene, per police.

NEW HAVEN, CT —Friday at around 6 p.m., police were called to a car crash got a call involving a pedestrian on Whalley Avenue, between Dayton Street and Emerson Street, spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway said.

When cops got there, they found 27-year-old Shanice Reyes of New Haven "laying in the roadway," he said. She was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital but "succumbed to her injuries," police said.

The vehicle involved in the crash, and its driver, stayed on the scene, Shumway said, noting that as of Monday, no charges have been filed.

The New Haven Police Accident Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation.
