New Haven Woman, 40, Struck, Killed By Transit Bus Downtown: PD

Police say the accident team is investigating the fatal Thursday night crash just before 7 p.m on Chapel between Orange and Church streets.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A woman, described as a pedestrian, was stuck and killed by a CT Transit bus Thursday night, police said.

At around 6:45 p.m., police responded to Chapel Street between Orange and Church streets where they found a 40-year-old New Haven woman, who'd been hit by the bus, according to New Haven police spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway.

The woman was pronounced deceased on the scene, Shumway said.

The bus remained on-scene, he said, and the New Haven Police Crash Team is investigating.
