Obituary: Andrew A. Gambardella, 73, of New Haven
A New Haven firefighter for 30 years before retiring in 1998, he was a bowler, golfer and boater, and cheered on the Yankees and Giants.

Andrew A. Gambardella, 73, Retired NHFD, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, August 23, 2021. He is the husband of Vivian R. DellaCamera Gambardella. He was born in New Haven on March 6, 1948 to the late Andrew A. and Nellie Gonzenbach Gambardella, Sr.
Andrew worked for the City of New Haven as a Fire Fighter for 30 years until retiring in 1998. He was an avid bowler, loved his vacations in the Cape, boating, going golfing and was a sports fan, especially his New York Yankees and Football Giants.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, William F. Nugent and Thomas T. (Kari) Nugent both of North Branford, a sister, Veronica Dowd of South Carolina, a sister-in-law, Laura Gambardella of East Haven, as well as 8 grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a brother Paul Gambardella.
The East Haven Memorial Longobardi – Brennan Funeral Home, 425 Main St., East Haven, 203-467-1708 is in charge of arrangements. Burial services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7:45 with a service to take place at the funeral home at 7:45 pm.
