Obituary: Carol DeChello Massaro (Porto Funeral Homes)

Carol DeChello Massaro, 86, of East Haven passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026 surrounded by her family at Yale New Haven Hospital St. Raphael Campus. Loving mother of Lori Schettino, Lisa Massaro and Sally (Peter G.) Consiglio all of East Haven. Beloved grandmother of Louis Apuzzo, Kelly (Christopher) Rea, Allison Apuzzo and Gino Consiglio. Cherished great grandmother of Krystyana, Kyle, Mia and Christopher Jr. Carol was born in New Haven on September 26, 1939 daughter of the late James and Bernice Bennet DeChello. Before her retirement, Carol worked in data entry at Yale University. She was a 1955 graduate of Sacred Heart High School and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven Friday morning, August 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
