Obituary: Corey Richmond, 36, of New Haven
Nursing and helping others was his passion, and he loved time spent with family, friends and enjoyed long walks with his beloved dog, Macey.

Corey Richmond, 36 of New Haven passed away unexpectedly on November 23, 2022 in Hartford. He was born September 2, 1986 in New Haven to Brad Richmond and Francine (Pearce) O’Brien. Corey is survived by his father, Brad Richmond (Nancy) of Guilford, mother, Francine O’Brien of New Haven, step-father, Jim O’Brien and five siblings, Tyler Richmond (Megan) of Guilford, Trevor Richmond (Sarah DeLorenzo) of Guilford, Cadence Richmond of Guilford, Julia Jalbert (Eric) of Middletown and Aedan O’Brien of New Haven along with niece, Ava Richmond and nephews, Charlie Richmond and Archie Jalbert. Corey is also survived by his paternal, grandmother, Dianne Hey (Robert) of NC, maternal grandparents, Francis “Skeeter” and Jo-Ann Pearce of New Haven, uncles, Chester Richmond III of Florida, Scott Richmond (Heather) of Bethlehem, CT, Jon Pearce (Kim) of Guilford and aunt, Jen Ciaburro (Louie) of North Haven, many cousins and his pet, a Great Dane, “Macey.” Corey is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dr. Chester Richmond Jr.
Corey graduated from North Haven High School in 2004 and went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Connecticut, graduating in 2008. Corey specialized in psychiatric nursing and devoted his professional career to caring for children and adolescents with mental illness, working at several area hospitals including Yale New Haven Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital of Bridgeport, and most recently as a nurse supervisor at Natchaug Hospital in Mansfield, CT. He was known to his colleagues, friends, and family as a man of kindness and great compassion.

In addition to Corey’s passion for nursing and helping others, he loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed long walks with his beloved dog, Macey.
Family will receive friends on Saturday December 3, 2022 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven CT from 9 to 11:30 A.M. at which time the family will share words of remembrance to honor the life of Corey Richmond. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Soul Friends, Animal Assisted Therapy Program of CT, 300 Church Street, Wallingford CT 06492 in memory of Corey Lee Richmond.
