Obituary: David Kronberg, 84, of New Haven
A Navy veteran, he took part in Cold War strategic military exercises, worked for United Nuclear and co-owned a home improvement business.

David Kronberg, 84, of New Haven passed away January 26, 2023. He was born in East Haven, CT on April 16, 1938, to Edward G. and Marie B. Kronberg. He was the husband of the late Anne (Tiedemann) Kronberg, who was the love of his life.
After enlisting in the Navy, Dave was soon appointed Oil King of the USS Vermillion Attack Cargo Ship and cruised the Atlantic before the Cuban Missile Crisis and participated in Cold War strategic military exercises in the Dardanelles to thwart the Soviet Union's advancement in the Mediterranean Sea.
Dave worked for United Nuclear assembling components for the US Navy's atomic submarine fleet in the early 1960s. Soon after, he and his four brothers started the local home improvement and remodeling company Kronberg Brothers Inc. Dave’s pet project was renovating Howard Johnson Motor Lodges from coast-to-coast during their heyday. He remained a proud North Haven business owner for the next 50 years.
He had a deep sense of military patriotism and was a devoted NASA enthusiast. Dave loved to vacation on Kauai, snowbird in Florida, gather with friends and family, shoot-the-breeze with his good buddies (at Doran's), and talk about the weather. Dave never met anyone who didn't love him (including pets, roosters, sting rays, and sea turtles).
Dave will be greatly missed by his last Kronberg brother, John W. Kronberg Sr., his beloved daughters Linda & Lois Kronberg, Laura Pedalino (Carmen) and Brian Olivieri (Lauri). He was beloved "Pa Dave' to Michael (Jessica), Brian (Rachel), Daniel (Kristin) Pedalino, Jordan Olivieri and Sophia, Jackson and Luca Pedalino. Also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and beloved kitty LC.
Predeceased by his parents, wife and siblings, Edward, James, and Robert Kronberg, Beatrice Chapman, Marie Heard and devoted dog “Mitzi.”
