Obituary: Joseph A. Tomasello, 89, of New Haven
Korean War veteran and Yale truck driver, he was also a classical guitarist and accomplished violinist who played for the New Haven Symphony

Joseph A. Tomasello, 89, of New Haven, passed away Friday May 20, 2022, at the Mary Wade Home. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan Tomasello.
Joseph was born in New Haven on April 27th, 1933, to the late Anthony and Beatrice Tomasello. He worked for many years as a truck driver for Yale Transport and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. Joseph was an accomplished violinist, playing with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of New Haven. He was also a classical guitarist who enjoyed all forms of music. For many years, Joseph owned a boat named “The East Wind” that he enjoyed taking loved ones out on.

Joseph is survived by a son Anthony Tomasello and his wife Mavis Roy; daughter-in-law Kelly Tomasello; sisters Roselyn Tosetti and Evelyn (Michael) Germanese. He is also survived by his longtime companion Julie Hancock, his grandchildren Mark, Andrew, Lily and Bella Tomasello; nephews Michael & Danny Germanese and many great-grandchildren. Joseph was predeaceased by his wife Joan and son Paul Tomasello.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit SATURDAY from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at East Haven Memorial Funeral Home, 425 Main Street. A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in St. Vincent de Paul Church (St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish) 80 Taylor Avenue. Burial with military honors will follow in East Lawn Cemetery.
