Obituary: Joshua Jose Vazquez, 16, of New Haven

Loved endlessly by all, he was a protector of the younger neighborhood kids, he had the biggest heart and was always willing to help anyone.

Joshua Jose Vazquez, 16 of New Haven passed away unexpectedly on December 19, 2022. He was born in New Haven, CT on November 1st 2006. Son of Jose Vazquez Jr. and Tina McDonald, brother of Christian Gabriel, Miguel Antonio and Karina Jeanette Vazquez all of New Haven. Nephew of Krystal (Billy) Ruiz, Richard (Elizabeth) McDonald, Luz (Orlando) Feliciano Burgos, Felix (Iris) Saldaña, Jamira (Eladio) Vazquez Burgos, and Maria Vazquez Burgos.

Survived by maternal grandparents Patty and John Papakos of Meriden and Richard McDonald of West Haven. Paternal grandmother Luz Maria Burgos Davila of Comerio, Puerto Rico. As well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Predeceased by paternal grandfather Jose Vazquez Sr as well as maternal and paternal great grandparents.

From an early age he was a daredevil, always seeking adventure. Joshua had the biggest heart, always willing to help anyone at any time. He loved doing landscape work with his dad and construction work with his grandpa. He enjoyed playing basketball with his brothers, neighborhood friends and cousins. And also loved playing video games. With his shy quiet smile he was known to crack jokes when you least expected it. Joshua was loved endlessly by his entire family and his friends. He also gave the greatest hugs. Joshua loved little kids and they adored him. He was the protector of all of the younger neighborhood kids and girls. Joshua will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Pastor D’Hati Burgess and Alder Honda Smith for all of their support in this difficult time.

He was laid to rest on Dec. 28, 2022.
