Obituary: Louise “Lou Lou” Papacoda Belchak, 72, of New Haven

A beloved "nana" who was "always lucky" at the casino, Lou Lou was a NY Yankees and NY Jets fan, and she was known for her anginettes.

Louise “Lou Lou” Papacoda Belchak 72, of New Haven beloved wife of 50 years to the late Alan E. Belchak Sr. passed away peacefully on April 8, 2022 surrounded by her family in CT. Hospice. Loving mother of Jennifer (Chris) Lombardi, Tracy (Ken) Goodale Jr and Alan E. Belchak Jr. all of East Haven. Grandmother of the joys of her life Kyla and Kenneth “Trey” Goodale III. Sister of Andrew (Victoria) Papacoda, Michael (Mary Jane) Papacoda, Nicholas (MaryAnn) Papacoda and the late Joseph “Butch” Papacoda. Louise is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Louise was born in New Haven on January 30, 1950 daughter of the late Andrew and Lena Mauro Papacoda.

Louise “Lou Lou” graduated from North Branford High School in 1969. She was a huge sports fan cheering on her favorites the New York Jets and the New York Yankees. Lou Lou loved taking trips to the casino where she was always lucky. She was known for making her Anginettes that everyone loved. She was an amazing wife and mother but her true joy was being Nana to the loves of her life.

Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80) East Haven WEDNESDAY morning at 10:15. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in St. Bernadette Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Family and friends may call TUESDAY from 5pm to 8pm.
