Porto Funeral Homes (East Haven/West Haven)

Phyllis J. DeMaio Manacchio, 72, passed away surrounded by family on July 23, 2026 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born on February 16, 1954 in New Haven, Connecticut Phyllis was the beloved daughter of Phyllis (Zona) DeMaio and the late Salvatore DeMaio. She was raised on Fillmore Street in New Haven before later making her home on Laurel Street in East Haven, where she shared many cherished years with her family. Phyllis was the devoted sister of MaryAnn (Tim) Ackerman, Angela (Johny) Furino, Theresa (Robert) Puccino, Salvatore DeMaio Jr., and Anthony DeMaio. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Rose Marie Rogalski.

A hardworking and compassionate woman, Phyllis found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved music, cooking and, above all else, spending time with her family. Her greatest pride was the family she came from and the one she lovingly built. Nothing meant more to her than her children and grandchildren, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

She is survived by her children: Ralph Manacchio, Elizabeth Cronk, Jason (Soklan) Cronk, Donald (Anna) Cronk, and Noah Lowe. She also leaves behind ten beloved grandchildren, with an eleventh expected soon, all of whom brought immeasurable happiness to her life. Phyllis will be remembered for her kindness, humility, selflessness, and unwavering love for her family. Her generous spirit, warm heart, and enduring devotion to those she loved will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
