Obituary: Rhonda Pepe, 82, of Branford

Rhonda Pepe of Branford died Monday January 30, 2023 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of the late Peter A. Pepe.

Rhonda was born in Haverhill. MA, on August 31, 1940, daughter of the late Elmer and Margaret Jarvie Schnyer. Along with her late husband, Peter, she was the owner of Pepe’s Apizza in Westville, New Haven, and West Haven for many years. Rhonda also became a caregiver for the elderly in her later years. She enjoyed nature and being outdoors. She especially loved birdwatching at the Branford River.

Rhonda is survived by her children, Lisa Prior of West Haven, Peter Pepe of FL, and Frank (Starr) Pepe of New Haven, her grandchildren, Teresa, Cristina and Frankie Pepe and her great-grandson AJ Pepe. She is also survived by her sister Nancy (Joe) Iannone of Orange. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Rhonda J. Pepe and beloved son-in-law, Robert Prior, and her brothers, George, Richard and James Schnyer.

Visiting hours will be Monday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. Her funeral will leave the funeral home Tuesday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Bosco Parish at St. Mary Church, 731 Main Street, Branford at 10:00. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
