An officer involved in a use of force incident at a New Haven Walmart has been cleared, according to a report.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Acting New Haven Police Chief Renee Dominguez announced Wednesday that an officer in an incident at a Walmart has been cleared, according to FOX 61. New Haven Police officer Christian Carfora was at the Walmart on Foxon Boulevard April 11 and chased down Robert Banks, who was accused of stealing over $100 of merchandise.

Carfora pulled his Taser and gun during the incident. Police said this was because Banks had reached around to his back.

Internal Affairs determined that Carfora, a five-year veteran of the force, did not commit any policy violations.
