Older Adult Artists Deserve Recognition

Older adults who paint or photograph the world around us improve the quality of life in our communities.

On May 20, The Agency on Aging will celebrate older adult, local artists who inspire us with their creativity. Over the past 15 years hundreds of artists have demonstrated that age is not a determining factor when we think about creativity. The first artist who registered to exhibit at the annual Art of Aging exhibition was Ted Yatsinko, from the Valley area. Ted has returned every year to share the projects he worked on during the previous year. Most artists who exhibit once, come back the next year. The talent is amazing. Many area assisted living facilities and adult day programs submit paintings on behalf of their residents and clients. Senior Centers throughout New Haven county are represented by members of their centers. Prizes are awarded to first and second place winners based on the judging of professional judges.

If you are an aspiring artist or an accomplished artist who has been painting or snapping photos, share your work with the community and help improve the quality of life for all of us. For information about the Art of Aging, contact Patricia Soos at the Agency on Aging 203 785 8533.
