Pedestrian Hit On Chapel Street Found Dead Blocks Away: UPDATE
A hit-and-run driver struck Luis Fernando Gonzalez-Sandoz, 49, near YNHH St. Raphael's campus, but police found his body many blocks away.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Just before 10 p.m. Monday night, police got 911 calls about a person who was hit by a car on Chapel Street, between Norton Street and Ellsworth Avenue.
Officers would later find a 49-year-old Luis Fernando Gonzalez-Sandoz of New Haven on Greenwood Street, between Gilbert Avenue and George Street, and, New Haven Police Department spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway said, they "determined that he was the pedestrian involved the crash."
Gonzalez-Sandoz was pronounced dead on the scene.

Shumway said that the car and driver, who fled the scene, have not been located. The New Haven Police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating.
