Pedestrian Hit By Bus, In Critical Condition

NEW HAVEN, CT — A pedestrian was struck by a Connecticut Transit bus at 5:42 p.m. Tuesday, according to a statement from police.

A 69-year-old New Haven man suffered from what appeared to be a broken leg. Witnesses told the police the man was standing near the bus stop while a city bus was pulling away from the same location.

Officers were told the man fell to the ground near the street and sidewalk and was then struck by the bus.

The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital with significant but non-life threatening injuries, according to a statement.

On Wednesday morning, the pedestrian remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Investigators have learned the pedestrian fall victim suffered crushing injuries when the bus drove over his leg.
