NEW HAVEN, CT — Yale University Properties and the Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology "ConnCAT" held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday at 100 Ashmun Street to welcome Petals Market to downtown New Haven. Mayor Toni Harp joined the festivities.
Petals Market is a neighborhood convenience store serving the local surrounding community. It features made-to-order pizza, fresh fruits, smoothies, salads, paninis, sandwiches and more. Petals is operated by ConnCAT, a Science Park based organization which provides job-training programs intended to give unemployed and under-employed adults the skills needed to secure meaningful, well-paying jobs in the health sciences and culinary professions.

Petals Market will provide an opportunity to employ graduates and current students of ConnCAT’s culinary arts program.
“What I appreciate most about this new Petals Market, beyond the new outlet it provides for fresh, delicious food, is that ConnCAT culinary students get a hands-on chance to learn invaluable lessons about the business side of the food and hospitality industry,” Harp said.
