Police Investigate New Haven Shooting

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating following a shooting late Tuesday night in the area of Harper Avenue near Valley Street in the West Rock neighborhood.

Police and Fire responded to a person shot at 11:51 p.m. Officers found a gunshot victim outside a Taylor Avenue residence. The 27-year-old Texas man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

An ambulance transported the victim to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Detectives canvassed the neighborhood overnight and held crime scenes on Taylor Avenue and nearby Harper Avenue. Investigators learned the shooting occurred on Harper Avenue and the victim fled to Taylor Avenue where he sought assistance.

All scenes have been cleared and the streets have been reopened.
