Police Investigating 2 Thursday Night Shootings In Newhallville
Two shootings were reported with two men, one from New Haven, age 29, one from Meriden, age 39, with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Two shootings in Newhallville Thursday night left two men with non-life threatening gunshot wounds, police said.
At around 8:15 p.m., police got a Shotspotter alert of gunfire, and calls regarding a person shot, on Hazel Street, between Newhall Street and Shelton Avenue. Police found a 39-year-old Meriden man shot, police spokesperson Scott Shumway said. He was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Thirty minutes later, police got a Shotspotter alert of gunfire on Read Street, between Winchester Avenue and Newhall Street, Shumway said. Officers were told that a 29-year-old New Haven man who, approached an ambulance at Chapel and College streets, had been shot. The man told police he was shot on Read Street and was being driven to the hospital when he saw the ambulance and decided to stop, Shumway said. He was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading both investigations.
