UPDATE: Police Investigating Orchard Place Shooting Of Man, 25
There have been 18 homicides in 2021 and the latest non-fatal shooting brings that total so far to 76 with some arrests, police told Patch.

NEW HAVEN, CT —Just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, police got a Shotspotter alert for gunfire on Orchard Place, between Orchard and Charles streets.
When police got to the scene, they found a 25-year-old New Haven man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, New Haven police spokesperson Scott Shumway said.
When Shumway was asked on July 19 about the gun violence statistics so far this year, he said there had been 17 homicides and 67 non-fatal shootings. Less than a month later, another fatal shooting brings the homicide count to 18 and with 9 more shootings, the non-fatal count to 76.
