Police Investigating Shooting Of New Haven Man, 31, In Newhallville

Shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday, police got a 911 call about a man shot on Lilac Street, between Winchester Avenue and Newhall Street.

NEW HAVEN, CT — In the middle of the day Wednesday, a 31-year-old man was shot in Newhallville, police said.

It was 12:40 p.m., when cops got a 911 call reporting a person had been shot on Lilac Street, between Winchester Avenue and Newhall Street, New Haven police spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway said. When police got there, they found a New Haven man suffering from a gunshot wound. who had been shot. He was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Bureau of Identification responded to the scene and collected ballistic evidence. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.
