Resurrection of Screamin' Jay Hawkins Band on the road again...

A show you will surely remember for many years.

The Resurrection of Screamin' Jay Hawkins Band

The idea for the tribute band was inspired by Steve Bergsman’s upcoming biography of the singer called “I PUT A SPELL ON YOU: THE BIZARRE LIFE OF SCREAMIN’ JAY HAWKINS,” which is published by Feral House Publications. “Steve Bergsman interviewed me extensively for the book, and afterward it motivated me to form the tribute band,” says Mike. “I know people will want to read about Screamin’ Jay because he truly was bizarre, but I thought it would be great if I could show fans his music and what his famous shows looked like.”

Screamin’ Jay Hawkins was a prolific songwriter and his huge songbook has rarely been heard outside of “I Put A Spell on You.” Mike plans to perform some of the more well-known compositions like “Constipation Blues,” “Alligator Wine” and lesser-known nuggets like “Feast of the Mau Mau.”

“The hardest part of forming a Resurrection of Screamin Jay Hawkins Band was finding someone to be Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, but when I met Shakar “TheRealShakar” Brumfield, I knew he was the right person because he was an actor as well as a singer,” says Mike. “Back in 2016, Shakar won the Apollo Theater’s “Amateur Night Making a Star” competition."
The band is not just performing the music of Screamin' Jay Hawkins but creating a time machine of one of rock’s true wild men. “In fact, Screamin’ Jay may even pop out of a coffin,” Mike says. “Let the resurrection begin.”

The Band performs live shows taking you back in time to the music of Screamin' Jay Hawkins. This project is comprised of extremely talented and seasoned musicians. Mike Armando was the original guitarist for Screamin' Jay Hawkins back in the 1970's. Another reason this project is exciting. The band is not just performing the music of Screamin' Jay Hawkins but creating a time machine of one of rock’s true wild men. A show you will surely remember for many years. Mike says the band has a new booking agent Fernando Pinto who is a veteran booking agent and promotor. Anyone interested in booking the band contact: Fernando Pinto

Forget about zombies! With the Resurrection of Screamin' Jay Hawkins Tribute Band, the man who invented shock-rock is back and he is gonna put a spell on you. Don't miss the most exciting stage act since Screamin' Jay Hawkins first emerged from a coffin. - Steve Bergsman, author of I Put a Spell on You: The Bizarre Life of Screamin' Jay Hawkins

Review - Elmore Magazine - I was always a fan of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and owned most of his recorded material. Most importantly, I got to witness Screamin’ Jay Hawkins later in his career in New York City. The Resurrection of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins show took place at the Bowery Electric, not far from where I got to see Screamin’Jay himself. The band is led by Mike Armando, who played guitar for Hawkins in the ’70s .

More than just the music, this is a show. Screamin’ Jay would be carried on stage in a coffin, and his stage props included a toilet. Many bands where influenced by this, including Alice Copper and Screaming Lord.
The part of Screaming is played by Shakur Brumfield who has the vocals and the movements down .They cover all the Screamin’ Jay classic songs, from “Alligator Wine ,” “Wanna Know,” “Constipation Blues” (guess where the toilet comes in!), “Yellow Coat” and of course the song everybody was waiting for, “I Put a Spell on You.”
From somebody who got to see Screamin’ Jay Hawkins himself, The Resurrection of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins Band is practically the real thing, and a must to witness.
