(May 18th, New Haven) Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro celebrated the best student artists in CT’s third congressional district today over bagels and muffins at a reception that recognized winning works in the 38th Annual Congressional Arts Competition.

Photographs, drawings, prints, collages, and paintings from 16 artists representing six high schools are on display at the NewAlliance Art Gallery on the CT State Community College Gateway Campus.

Works of three artists, Benjamin Green, Priya Kim, and Ana Cyr were selected above the rest. Green attends Amity Regional High School and will have the opportunity to fly to DC for the exhibition of his photograph Reaching Out.

DeLauro chatted with artists, their teachers and families, and learned the students plan to pursue business, fashion, cognitive science, and art instruction. She wished them well and encouraged them to, “Keep making the art that matters to you. The arts will continue to enrich your life and lives of those around you”.
