Schools Apologize After Child Wasn't Picked Up At Regular Bus Stop

New Haven school's spokesperson made sure the 4th grader was picked up and apologized for the bus company's failure to bring him to school.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven Public Schools spokesperson apologized for the failure of a school bus to pick up a fourth grade student for the first two weeks of school.

As was reported by Fox 61, the child, who the outlet identified as having special needs, has been transported home, but has not been picked up in the morning.

Patch did not immediately hear back from First Student, which operates the buses, or NHPS Director of Transportation Carl L. Jackson for comment.

Schools spokesperson Justin Harmon told Patch that "While we weren’t sure what caused the transportation glitch, we could certainly fix it."

"I apologize on behalf of the district for the trouble it had caused the family," Harmon said.

The child has been riding the bus from the same stop at his grandmother's home since he was in Kindergarten, his mother told Fox 61.
