Senator Murphy to Discuss Climate Change at Gateway CC

Senator Murphy, Local Officials, Students to Discuss Urgency of Tackling Climate Change After Extreme Flooding and Climate Change Report

NEW HAVEN, CT – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), joined by local and state officials, will meet with students from Quinnipiac University, Yale University, University of New Haven, Gateway Community College, and Southern Connecticut State University for a discussion on the urgent need to take action on climate change and to highlight the climate goals in President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda.

Last month, the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a report laying out the dire climate crisis and the narrow window to keep climate related impacts from getting worse. Murphy highlighted the Build Back Better agenda’s climate investments on the U.S. Senate floor. This comes as the Northeast was devastated by unprecedented flooding and tornadoes last week from Hurricane Ida, which climate scientists warn will become more common unless action is taken.
