Serial New Haven Bank Robber Sentenced

The man committed five separate bank robberies at three different New Haven banks, according to officials.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A city man was sentenced to seven years in prison after he committed five bank robberies in New Haven and one in Albany, New York.

Juan Cruz, 38 committed the following bank robberies, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office:

  • Santander Bank, Grand Avenue on Oct. 15, 2015.
  • Wells Fargo Bank, Church Streeton Oct. 20, Nov. 7 and Nov. 21, 2015.
  • Bank of America, Church Street Nov. 9, 2015.
  • Citizens Bank, Albany, New York Nov. 20.

About $18,830 was stolen during the robberies.
