According to New Haven police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart, at around 10 a.m., a state trooper attempted a stop of a black Infiniti on the I-95 Grasso exit off-ramp when the "driver did not stop and took off at a high rate of speed," Bruckhart said.
State Police said that the trooper did not pursue the Infiniti. Bruckhart said that the car, while fleeing on Grasso, "collided" with a white pickup truck. The Infinity driver was killed, and their passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is being treated at an area hospital. The driver of the truck similarly sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Bruckhart said.
