"Shaping CT's Future: Workforce Development Velocity" is a unique event taking place this Friday, May 15 from 11 am to 5 pm. The event is being organized by Rebellion Group in Cheshire and held at the Michael J. Adanti Student Center, 501 Crescent Street on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. Admission is free.

According to the event planners, Connecticut does not lack talent, organizations, or opportunity. What it lacks is coordinated speed. In a volatile labor market shaped by demographic shifts, policy changes, technological acceleration, and rising cost pressures, the greatest competitive advantage will not belong to the state with the most talent. It will belong to the sectors that move talent the fastest.

The Talent Economy is driven, in part, by Workforce Development Velocity; the rate at which a person can stabilize, earn, advance, and sustain upward mobility.

Velocity determines how quickly:

  • A parent can secure childcare after being hired.
  • A student can convert coursework into wages.
  • A manufacturer can shift demand into staffed shifts.
  • A displaced worker can re-enter the labor force.
  • An entry-level employee can become middle income.

When velocity slows, employers feel scarcity. Families feel fragility. The state feels stagnation. Conversely, when velocity increases, growth compounds.

This unique event brings together leaders from business, education, policy, infrastructure, finance, and community organizations to examine one central question: How do we design the fastest-moving talent economy in the country?

At this Workforce Development Velocity event, networking is not left to chance. Each attendee receives a personalized matchmaking experience designed to accelerate meaningful outcomes. Based on goals—whether you’re hiring talent, seeking investment, exploring partnerships, or advancing policy and workforce development initiatives—the system identifies the most relevant people in the room.
