Singer/Rapper DustyStayTrue Returns To His New Haven Alma Mater

The artist, whose 2020 song 'Never Change' has 10M views on YouTube, met with students at Barnard Environmental Science & Technology School.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Rapper DustyStayTrue went back to school Thursday.

The artist, singer, songwriter, rapper, visited his alma mater, Barnard Environmental Science & Technology School, to talk with, and inspire, students.

Now 22, the artist whose name is Xavier Segarra, greeted fifth and sixth grade students and educators, including his former teachers.

The artist spoke with kids about life growing up in New Haven and how he carved out a path that led him to produce a song, and video, in 2020, "Never Change," that amassed more than 10 million views on YouTube. Which soon led to him being signed to South Coast Music Group and a feature in Fortnite.
