Small Plane 'Dropped' Into Quinnipiac River, FAA Responding: Report

NEW HAVEN, CT — A small plane with two people aboard "dropped" into the Quinnipiac River, the CT Post reported.

NBC Connecticut said both New Haven and Federal Aviation Administration officials were responding.

New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker told the Post that two people and a dog were aboard. All were rescued, it was reported.

It was 5:15 p.m. when the plane, flying from Woodbine, N.J. to Massachusetts, went into the water. it was reported.

FOX 61 reported the plane landed near the Grand Avenue Bridge, and the top of the plane could still be seen above water more than 45 minutes later.

On Facebook, Tweed New Haven Airport said the single-engine plane, flying from New Jersey destined for New Bedford, MA, "made an emergency landing" in the river.
