Programs across New Haven are offering opportunities for all ages to get out and play this season.
NEW HAVEN, CT — With warmer days ahead, it’s a great time to get outside and stay active. Around New Haven, many local leagues and programs are opening registration for the season. To help you get started, we’ve gathered a few resources where you can find more details and sign up — consider this a starting point as you explore what’s available in the community.
Youth Sports
Families in New Haven have several options when it comes to youth sports leagues and programs throughout the year.
Youth soccer

Nonprofit, volunteer-run New Haven Youth Soccer provides a place for boys and girls in kindergarten through 12th grade to learn the game of soccer and to have fun. Financial aid is available for children and families who cannot cover the full registration fee. This spring, register for indoor recreational soccer for ages 3 to 12. New Haven’s Sports and Rec department offers indoor and outdoor tennis for beginners ages 5 to 7 and advanced players ages 7 to 12. This program gives kids the basic knowledge and techniques of the sport and enhances what you have already learned. Find more information here.
Youth karate, soccer, and basketball clinics
JCC offers youth programming, including karate, soccer clinics, basketball clinics, and fencing. There are also programs for the littles, including Rockin’ Tots and Traversing Toddlers. Learn more here.

Parks, Recreation & Community Programs
Local parks departments and community organizations often offer seasonal leagues, classes, and recreation programs for residents of all ages.
The New Haven Youth & Recreation Department provides a host of physical and non-traditional activities geared to promote health and well-being for families and individuals through recreational activities. Our goal is to promote a healthy, safe, fun-filled environment that encourages a lifetime of wellness. Basketball, tennis, specialty programs, swimming lessons, and Open Schools Gym are at various city schools through May 14.
