Sunday, Chapel Street To Be Renamed Anne D. Hines Blvd., Part of Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Annual renaming ceremony honors someone who has significantly contributed to preserving, promoting Irish culture, the parade committee says.

NEW HAVEN, CT — This Sunday, Chapel Street will be renamed Anne D. Hines Boulevard as part of the Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The annual street renaming ceremony is to honor an individual who has significantly contributed to preserving
and promoting Irish culture, according to the parade committee.
"For over 40 years Anne D. Hines was a fixture in the Irish community through her involvement with the New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, the Irish American Community Center, and the New Haven Gaelic Football & Hurling Club, where she served as President until the time
of her passing," a news release reads.

Hines was 72 when she passed peacefully at home on May 25, 2024, surrounded by her family.
"She was named Irish Woman of the Year in 2006," the committee shared. "She was also involved with Kid U Not, Orchard House, and St. Mary's, where she taught the second-grade communion class for years."

Hines was born in Edinburgh and grew up between city life in Portobello, Scotland and the countryside of Counties Donegal and Leitrim, Ireland before coming to the US
in 1976, the parade committee shared.
