Teen, 16, Accidentally Shot Himself: New Haven Police

The 16-year-old is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 16-year-old teen accidentally shot himself, police said.

At 5:44 p.m. Friday, police officers responded to a person shot in an apartment in the Brewery Square complex.

Police found the victim, a 16-year-old resident, who suffered a gunshot wound to his arm, police said.

He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where his injury was determined to be non-life-threatening, police said.

Detectives determined that the victim accidentally shot himself while handling the gun, which was recovered, police said.
