NEW HAVEN, CT—Friday night, members from the city's police department's Criminal Intelligence Unit, Shooting Task Force, Narcotics Enforcement Unit, and Auto Theft Task Force conducted crime suppression throughout the city.
At around 11:35 p.m., officers saw a gray Infiniti sedan "doing donuts in the middle of an intersection on Fulton Terrace," with numerous vehicles parked along the roadway and spectators watching as the Infiniti continued to do donuts and other stunts, police said.
In a news release, New Haven police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart said that cops tried to stop the Infiniti, but the driver "disregarded officers and took off in a
reckless manner."

The driver was later identified as Noah Evanko-Weber, 19, of Shelton.
Bruckhart said police "successfully deployed stop sticks, which deflated several tires," but that the vehicle proceeded onto Interstate 91-S from Frontage Road. He said officers used their emergency lights in an "attempt to warn other motorists of the erratic operation."

The vehicle driven by Evanko-Weber "exited onto Sargent Drive, where he lost control, and the vehicle stopped."
Evanko-Weber was taken into custody and charged with three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, racing, reckless driving, interfering with an officer, engaging in a police pursuit, and a number of vehicle violations.
A 17-year-old juvenile from Fairfield in the car with Evanko-Weber was issued a juvenile summons for "his role in organizing a street racing event," and was charged with racing.
Evanko-Weber was immediately held on a $20,000 bond, police said. This case has not yet been added to the state judicial website.
