Tesla Driver Dies After Crashing Into 9 Vehicles: New Haven Police

The driver of a speeding Tesla died after crashing into nine vehicles, including seven parked cars, in New Haven, according to police.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The driver of a speeding Tesla died after crashing into nine vehicles Tuesday morning in New Haven, according to police.

New Haven Police Capt. Rose J. Dell said the crashes happened around 7:50 a.m. on Nicoll Street near Eagle Street. Seven of the vehicles were parked, and two were in motion at the time of the crash, according to Dell.

The driver, identified as 35-year-old Christopher Andreozzi of Hamden, was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died soon thereafter, Dell said.

Two other drivers were also hospitalized for minor injuries, according to Dell.

“The New Haven Police Department's Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to begin their investigation,” Dell wrote in a news release. “They spoke with witnesses and obtained video surveillance footage. The investigation will take some time and will include a mechanical inspection of the Tesla.”
