Thanksgiving Day Homicide Investigated at New Haven/Hamden Border
A car that may have been involved fled police and crashed into a tree.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early morning hours on Thanksgiving.
New Haven and Hamden police were dispatched to the 100 block of Cherry Ann Street around 3:12 a.m. after ShotSpotter detected gunfire. The crime scene is on the New Haven side of the street, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman.
Dyrail Martaye Reddick, 30, was shot multiple times and passed away after being taken to the hospital.

A dispute had occurred in a parking lot earlier, Hartman said.
A red Acura that may have been involved was spotted by Southern Connecticut State University Police. The vehicle fled and crashed into a tree on Whalley Avenue. Two occupants fled on foot and one was detained, Hartman said.

"That car and another found parked at the Slice Pizza Restaurant in Hamden, have been towed by police and will undergo forensic processing," Hartman said. "The involvement of those cars in this case is uncertain."
