Three Finalists for New Haven Fire Chief Position

One finalist is a former New Haven firefighter and former chief of a nearby department.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Former North Haven Fire Chief Vincent Landisio is a finalist to become New Haven's next fire chief.

Landisio was a battalion chief in New Haven before he went to North Haven, according to the New Haven Independent.

Candidates will meet with Mayor Toni Harp next week, according to the New Haven Register.

Landisio oversaw a $9.2 million renovation project for North Haven's four fire stations. He retired in 2015.

Other candidates include John Alston, a 30-year member of the Jersey City Fire Department and James Garrett, who is with the Kansas City Fire Department.

Retired Assistant Chief of Operations Ralph Black was a finalist for the position and served as interim chief after Allyn Wright retired. He withdrew his application in June and left his acting position in July.
