Tweed New Haven Asks Folks To Help Support TSA Agents Amid DHS Shutdown With Grocery, Gas Gift Cards

NEW HAVEN, CT — Tweed New Haven Airport took to Facebook to ask travelers and others in the community to "join" it in supporting TSA agents who are working without pay during the partial federal government shutdown.

"TSA is permitted to accept grocery store and gas gift cards," the airport's social media post reads. "Donations of $10 or $20 can make a meaningful difference for those serving our HVN community."

Gas and grocery store gift cards in $10 and $20 denominations can be dropped off at the departures entrance/lobby at the airport. Visa gift cards, cash, or cash equivalents may not be accepted, Tweed pointed out.

And for those not traveling through HVN, to "consider donating to Connecticut Foodshare, which is helping provide food and assistance to TSA officers and their families."
