Two Shootings In Two Days In New Haven

Two people were shot within the past two days in the city.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred on July 26 and 27.

The July 26 shooting occurred around 9:33 p.m. when the city's ShotSpotter system reported gunfire on Judson Avenue, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman.

A trail of blood led officers to the victim, a 21-year-old city man who was shot in the lower leg and ankle. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening wounds.

"A witness reported the shooter had disappeared behind a nearby house but couldn’t provide a description," Hartman said. "A police canine tracked to Parmalee Street but no further. Ballistic evidence recovered from the street suggested there were two shooters using different caliber guns."

The victim said he was shot while taking out the trash and saw two cars speed off.

The July 27 shooting was reported around 10:34 a.m. in the area outside of 43-45 Kensington Street.

Police were told a man leaning against a car began shooting. Ballistic evidence suggests a firefight with at least one other person.

The 24-year-old victim sustained a non-life threatening wound to his leg. The suspected shooter was last seen running toward Edgewood Avenue.
