Vehicle Struck By 'Slow Moving' Train At Grand Ave. & East Street: PD

Police and fire confirm that a car was attempting to cross the tracks when it was hit. Firefighters said there were minor injuries.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A report of a vehicle versus train collision is being investigated by New Haven police, a spokesperson confirmed.

Shortly before 3 p.m., New Haven fire and rescue responded to the tracks at East Street and Grand Avenue in Fair Haven after a car trying to make its way across the track was struck.

"The train is a slow moving utility train," police spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway.
