KANSAS CITY, MO (July 10, 2021)—The Veterans of Foreign Wars New Haven Post 12150 has been named a top post–again–in the largest combat veterans organization in America.

Chartered in June 2015, VFW New Haven and former Post Commander Charles M. Pickett were notified they earned the esteemed status of 2022-2023 All-American Post for their third time in their eight years of existence.

The award recognizes authentic accomplishment in membership growth and VFW core programs in the congressionally-chartered veterans service organization of 1.6 million VFW and Auxiliary members. Organized by largely Post-9/11 veterans, VFW New Haven achieved this honor in 2017 and 2021 and was only one of four posts in Connecticut to earn All-American this year.

Pickett said, “This is the biggest the post has ever been with 88 members. We continue to offer local veterans social and charitable opportunities with our partners in the American Legion New Haven Post 210 including memorial beautifications, organizing patriotic ceremonies, #VetEvents, #VetHikes, the Veterans Day FREE SOS Breakfast at Trinity Bar & Restaurant, and our popular fall fundraiser. Last year, the VFW New Haven donated thousands of dollars to local and veteran-facing charities and surpassed the $40,000 mark overall."

VFW New Haven members conducted a number of charitable, patriotic, and educational projects last year including the Patriot Pen and Voice of Democracy scholarship programs. Furthermore, they continued to support charities such as the Knights of St. Patrick, the Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the GWOT Memorial Foundation and the VFW National Home For Children.
