Victim ID'd In Shooting That Also Left New Haven Cop Injured
One man was killed and a police captain was seriously injured during a shooting incident Monday.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police have identified the man killed in a Monday shooting incident that also left New Haven Police Capt. Anthony Duff seriously injured. Troy Clark, 46, of West Haven was killed by a gunman Monday night, according to the New Haven Register. The suspect remains at large.
Duff happened to be in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Henry Street off-duty when he witnessed the incident and attempted to intervene, said Police Chief Otoniel Reyes. He began to pursue the gunman when the gunman turned around and shot him several times.
Duff is a 24-year veteran of the police department and is its current public information officer. He underwent surgery and is expected to eventually make a full recovery. Reyes credited the quick actions of other officer's with helping save Duff's life.

The State's Attorney's office is spearheading the investigation since an officer was involved in the incident.
Reyes promised to bring the shooter to justice. He also thanked the community for giving Duff well wishes and for already turning in several tips. He urged anyone with information to come forward.

"We are going to expend every resource available to us to bring you to justice, every single chief, every single command member, every single member of this department will be working this investigation," he said at a Tuesday press conference.
